The 2012 season began today across the state with two-a-days greeting high school football players across the state.

According to MaxPreps, Butler is the team to beat in the state's biggest class.  MaxPreps.com's national high school editor Steve Spiewak has Butler ranked #25 in his national Early Contenders Top 25 National Rankings.

We'll find-out in Week 1 how good the Bulldogs may be when they face Mallard Creek.  Both teams found themselves in the national rankings last year, but both were upset by eventual Class 4AA champ Greensboro Page before the state championship game.  Butler lost to Page in the quarterfinals, while Page defeated Mallard Creek in the state semis.

Page's state title ended Butler's run of two straight titles.
