The High School Football Huddle
The road to eight North Carolina high school football championships begins this weekend as 256 teams begin post-season play. In Class 4-AA, Independence is looking to return to its perch atop the classification. The Patriots are hoping to make it to their 10th state title game in a row and nab their ninth title during that stretch. Last year, Independence had its streak of eight straight titles snapped.Meanwhile, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association has changed three championship games slated for Kenan Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina to avoid conflicts with men's and women's basketball games and winter graduation. The 4-AA, 4-A and 2-A finals were set for December 13th, but now only the 4-A game will be played on the 13th at 11 A.M. The 4-AA game has been moved to Sunday, December 14th at 3 P.M., while the 2-A game will be played on Friday, December 12th at 7:30 P.M.
