High School Football Practice Underway in North Carolina

The wait is over, high school football is back with the start of two-a-days.

Laney High School couldn't wait for the sun to come up so, it celebrated the start of the 2010 season with a little Midnight Madness.

The Charlotte Observer, which is one of my favorite sources for high school sports news, is already in full swing with a couple of features this morning.  One story by Langston Wertz, Jr. looks at Garinger High head coach Terry Liggin, who is working hard to turn around a program that had won one game or less in 19 of the previous 35 seasons.

While Liggin is trying to overcome the Garinger's past, Jason Fowler will be trying to start history at Rocky River (Mecklenberg County), which is a first year school in Southwestern 4A.  According to another story by Wertz, the first-year school has only one player on the pre-season roster that has ever played on Friday night.

The first day that North Carolina teams can scrimmage is August 12th.
